As part of the Exchange Program “MIRAI Program”, 40 graduate and undergraduate students from 8 countries visited Japan from January 16 to January 23, 2019 to participate in the program aimed at learning about the rule of law in Japan.

In Tokyo, they deepened their understanding of the Japanese legal system by attending lectures on law, visiting the Supreme Court and observing proceedings at the Tokyo District Court. In addition, they had opportunities to look back at the history of Japan by experiencing cultural activities such as tea ceremony and zazen meditation in Kyoto and by visiting the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima.

The participants shared their individual interests and experiences via Social Media. Based upon their findings and learning in Japan, each country’s participants made a presentation in the final session and reported on the necessary measures to adopt the rule of law in participating countries.
