2013 SJAHI Junior Instructor Training Program
JICE has organized the training program for four junior instructors of Saudi Japanese Automobile High Institute (SJAHI (*1)), from September 19th to December 12th 2013. The purpose of this program is to develop human resources who can contribute to enhancement of SJAHI’s self-sustaining operation and management through intensive training programs provided by JICE and Japanese automobile manufacturers. These are focused on the basic and updated knowledge of automobile technology, teaching methods and Japanese-style vocational training methods for automobile mechanics.
It was the first time for most of SJAHI junior instructors to go abroad, so they got surprised at modern cityscape, transportation facilities, and rich natural environment in Japan. In addition, they got impressed by Japanese people’s punctuality, politeness, and the fact that many Japanese people kindly helped them when they got lost. Even though they sometimes found it difficult to get along with different customs and cultures, they could enjoy their stay in Japan with the great help of instructors of Japanese automobile manufacturers.
In the beginning, SJAHI junior instructors took lectures of business manner, Japanese culture, Japanese language, and teaching methods at JICE headquarters for two weeks, and then they accordingly visited six different Japanese leading automobile manufacturers. SJAHI junior instructors received training at Nissan Motor Co., Ltd., ISUZU MOTORS LIMITED, Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation, Mazda Motor Corporation and TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION. They learned not only techniques of automobile mechanic and unique features of each automobile manufacturers, but also their professional spirit of service for customers. Moreover, they learned how to keep the attention of audience during the class and got to know the approaches to increase their students’ motivation for learning.
As a closing program of this training, JICE held the final report meeting/farewell party with inviting guests involved in this training program. Each of SJAHI junior instructor gave a presentation about what they had learned in this training program and their action plan at this meeting/party. They were very eager to practice techniques and teaching methods which they acquired through this training as official SJAHI instructors after further six months of training program and instructor assistant training program at SJAHI.
We are deeply grateful for support from Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA), Japanese automobile manufacturers, and all the members who warmly welcomed SJAHI junior instructors.
