On November 26, 2018, a delegation of six senior officials of China’s Jiangsu Commission of Health paid a courtesy call on JICE President Sachiko Yamano on the first leg of their observation and exchange visit to Japan.

Based on the Cooperation Agreement in the Medical Field concluded between JICE and Health Department of Jiangsu Province in May 2012, JICE has been promoting exchange of medical personnel by hosting a total of 173 medical doctors from the first-class hospitals at Grade 3 in Jiangsu Province for training in the Japanese hospitals and medical intuitions with a view to contributing to further advancement of the medicine in the Eastern coastal province of China.

The purpose of the delegation led by Ms. Tan Ying, Commissioner and Mr. Shi Zhiyu, Director, Division of International Cooperation of the Commission was to seek further exchange opportunities with the Japanese medical institutions by sharing the innovative research output of both countries.

They had a lunch meeting with Mr. Toru Hiyoshi, M.D., Ph.D., Director, Diabetes and Endocrinology of Japan Red Cross Hospital and Mr. Kenji Katsumata, M.D., PhD., Visiting Professor, Department of Gastrointestinal and Pediatric Surgery of Tokyo Medical University and President Yamano to discuss further cooperation.

They also visited Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development to familiarize themselves about the outline of the Agency’s activities and good practices of consistently supporting research & development of a new technology to its practicalization stage.

Looking forward, JICE will be committed to nurturing cooperative relationship with Jiangsu Commission of Health.
